Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on the 25th of April 1969 in Katy, Texas, Her mother, Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen), is a nurse born in Norway, former and midwife, of Norwegian, Kven (Finnish) as well as Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger, her father, is a Swiss engineer. The couple was married in the year 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older brother. He is a marketing executive who was born on the 15th of February 1967. When she was working at the drama club, Renee became interested in acting. In Austin she also took an acting class and began to pursue acting as a profession. She was determined to pursue acting following graduation. However, Hollywood can be difficult to get into therefore Renee determined to stay in Texas and attempt to audition for roles around Houston. She found roles in films like Reality Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey (another Hollywood rising star) was her pal while she was on set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre II: The Next Generation (1994). McConaughey was working on an idea at the time which Renee was interested in, which she auditioned for and ultimately won the role in the film Love and a .45 (1994) which received her enough praise from critics that she decided to move to Los Angeles. Another role in The Whole Wide World (1996) was the next one, which eventually led to her first big break. Cameron Crowe was busy casting Jerry Maguire (1996) in which she starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was considering such actresses as Cameron Diaz, Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and Marisa Tomei, until he saw Zellweger's performance in The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger, and felt certain the actress was his Dorothy Boyd. Renee followed her huge success with a few small independent films. After receiving further critical praise she was confident enough to reenter the world of big-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep starred with her in One True Thing (1998). Also, she starred with Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and began to meet Jim Carrey shortly thereafter. as the lead in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
